Before you submit
How to prepare your book.
Every story has the potential to inspire. These steps help yours reach the right readers.
Know your reader
Your book should have a clear purpose and speak to a particular group of readers.
Offer something new
Look at similar titles and make sure your book brings something they don't.
Draft in stages
Summarise the book, break it into chapters and write sample chapters. Expect to revise.
Rework towards your vision
Writing is iterative. Keep shaping the draft until it matches what you set out to say.
Two ways to submit
A full manuscript, or a proposal.
Full manuscript
If your manuscript is complete, send it as a Microsoft Word document. You are responsible for permissions for any material you quote.
Book proposal
- Working title and a description of the book
- Purpose statement: what need does it meet?
- A clearly defined readership
- Table of contents
- At least one complete chapter
- Your biography, and any connections that would help promote the book
Publishing contracts
Traditional publishing, at no cost to you.
AURM covers production, publishing and marketing. There are two kinds of contract.
Work for hire
You transfer the rights to AURM and receive an agreed payment.
Royalty contract
You grant AURM the right to publish your book and receive royalties on every sale.
